Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

If I sign a contract with Faculty Connection to assist with an initial consulting engagement, am I obligated to work with you for all future engagements?

No, you are free to work with us as much or as little as you wish. Additionally, it doesn’t cost you a penny to join our network, so don’t worry about a partnership with us turning into one of those streaming subscriptions you don’t really use.

How do I join?

To work with Faculty Connection, all you have to do is sign a contract agreeing to become an independent contractor, complete a W-9 form, and provide us with a current copy of your curriculum vitae.

Do I need to be a doctor to work with Faculty Connection?

No, we work with consultants from a variety of professions. In fact, you don’t even need a faculty appointment—if you would like our assistance with a consulting engagement, we’re here to help!

How do I keep track of the payments that Faculty Connection sends me?

Part of our service is keeping track of them for you. When you partner with us, you receive a quarterly conflict of interest report tracking the payments that we send you and the company that paid the fee.  Each year, you’ll receive a single 1099 evidencing the total sum we paid you for the tax year in question.

Do I bring work to Faculty Connection or will you provide me with consulting opportunities?

In most cases, we work with clients who have already been in touch with our consultants; however, we occasionally have clients ask us to provide them with potential consultants.

What is the upfront cost to work with Faculty Connection?

There are no upfront costs to work with us! We don’t collect a fee until a client issues payment to us for your services—at which point, we retain 20% for operating costs and pass the remaining 80% on to you.

What services will I receive in exchange for the 20% fee that Faculty Connection retains?
  • Expert legal review of your consulting contract by our team of attorneys

  • General liability, errors and omissions, and cyber liability insurance policies

  • Administrative support that includes invoicing, following up on payments, conflict of interest tracking, 1099 tracking, and any required Sunshine transparency reporting

  • Answers to any questions you may have about your consulting engagement as they arise

  • Rate Review- we draw on 20 years of experience and client data to ensure you are receiving fair market value for your services

  • We assume liability under your contract so you will not be sued directly in the event your engagement results in litigation

In short, when you consider the out-of-pocket costs of paying individual legal fees, administrative costs, and insurance premiums, our services provide exceptional value relative to the expense.
